Notes & Homework
Skill:Â 3rd Shot Drive
- Contact Point: Out in front approx 12-15” in front of front foot.
- Weight Transfer: Load and rotate. Extending forward through the ball with weight transfer.
- Body Positioning: Don't let shoulders go up and down. This effects the weight transfer and ball flight.
- Hands: Reach forward with non paddle hand on forehand drive. Use a laid back wrist and eastern grip to create topspin.
- Swing: Short Backswing-paddle butt to back hip. Swing plane to the side to initiate kinetic chain.
Drill:Â Partner Feed Drive
- Stand ball tubes up at NVZ.
- Players stand with 1 NVZ depth but off to the side and 1 at baseline. NVZ player is feeding balls to baseline player that are shallow and high.
- Baseline player moves forward to hit each drive aiming at the ball tube target.
- Space feeds out so hitting player has time to reset to baseline.
Skill:Â Drop Shot
- Contact Point: Out in front. Push fwd through ball with guiding motion.
- Weight Transfer: Load through the shot with weight transfer focusing on forward and low to create optimal ball flight.
- Hands: Soft continental grip, lay back wrist.
- Swing: Smooth, slow, even swing tempo with no backswing behind the body. Will feel like an extended dink.,Â
