- Knock out the drills 2–3x before we meet again.
- Each time you play, pick one skill and make it your mission to use it often and on purpose.
3rd Shot Drive
- Grip: Eastern Forehand or Backhand
- Stance: Semi Open pushing through the shot
- Paddle Prep: 3/4 back swing with a low to high swing plane
- Contact Point: In front of the body and off to the side, transfer weight
forward through the shot - Follow Through: out in front to the opposite shoulder with non dominant hand acting as counter balance
Partner Feed Drive
- Stand ball tubes up at NVZ.
- Players stand with 1 NVZ depth but off to the side and 1 at baseline.
- NVZ player is feeding balls to baseline player that are shallow and high.
- Baseline player moves forward to hit each drive aiming at the ball tube
target. - Space feeds out so hitting player has time to reset to baseline.
Swing Volley
- Contact Point: Out in front, approximately 12-15” in front of toes.
- Weight Transfer: Load and rotate to allow weight to flow into your shot.
- Keep your weight low. Do not pick up with the shot.
- Hands: Eastern grip with laid back wrist.
- Swing: Swing through the ball like drawing a Nike swoosh to the side of you.
- Low to high swing plane. No backswing behind the body.
4th Shot Depth Challenge
- Players set up straight on skinny, 1 player at NVZ and 1 at the baseline.
- Set out strips or cones for a depth target about 2/3 back of the service box.
- Part 1: Baseline player hits only drop shots and NVZ player must hit a 4th
shot landing beyond the depth line. - Part 2: Baseline player hits only drives and NVZ player must hit a 4th shot landing beyond the depth line.
- Part 3: Baseline player hits drops or drives randomly and NVZ player must hit a 4th shot landing beyond the depth line.
