Notes & Homework
 Skill: Punch Volley
- Contact Point: Out in front. Push fwd through ball with guiding motion.
- Weight Transfer: Allow weight to flow into your shot.
- Body Positioning: Good Ready Position
- Hands: Continental grip with medium strength.
- Swing: Follow through pointing your paddle out in front where you placed the ball. Do not over follow through-keep it compact and out in front.
Drill:Â Volleys In & Out
- Players stand straight on at NVZ.
- Part #1: Start with players standing inside NVZ.
- Players hit cooperative volleys back and forth to each other focusing on contact out in front, ball control, and balance control.
- Part #2: Players step behind NVZ and continue the same drill.
- Players hit cooperative volleys back and forth to each other focusing on contact out in front and timing.
Skill:Â Squaring Up to the Ball
- Toes, hips, shoulders and paddle move together as a unit.
- Your complete unit should be facing wherever the ball is.
- Do not keep feet anchored to ground when pivoting to face a new direction. Pick up the feet to turn and rotate.
Skill: Offensive Lob
- This is a weapon - not a hail Mary!
- Contact Point: Out in front, off bounce or out of air.
- Weight Transfer: Use legs to lift both fwd & up to generate height and depth.
- Body Positioning: Balanced & in position.
- Swing: Guide ball as if trying to keep it on your paddle as long as possible.
Drill: Dinking with Lobs
- Place target rings deep in court behind each player.
- Players straight on at NVZ and dink rally starts.
- Players wait for the right ball to hit the lob over their opponent and aim for the target rings.
- Opponent does not run down the lob in this drill.
- Players take turns who is hitting the lob.
