Thank you for attending Lesson 9 of our 12 week Training Series! Please note that lessons do not have to be taken in numerical order. You are welcome to start anytime during the 3 month rotation.

Notes & Homework

Skill: Push Dink

  • An offensive dink. Use it to push opponents around to create open court, imbalance and pop ups to attack.
  • Contact Point: Out in front. Push forward through ball.
  • Weight Transfer: Flow into your shot like a speed skater.
  • Body Positioning: Square up to the ball
  • Swing: Smooth, no backswing behind body. Push through all 3 balls.

Drill:  Middle Dink Drill

  • Set up target rings next to the inside foot of each player.
  • Part #1: Players set up at NVZ cross court from each other. Engage in cooperative dink rally 3 dinks then players must hit the middle target.
  • Part #2: Same as Part #1 but players may attack balls that are too high in the middle.

Drill: Cone Heads Cross Court

  • Put cones 1 ft inside the NVZ and about 1 ft on either side of players stance on a diagonal in cross court version
  • Place a ball on top of each cone as a target.
  • Players stand cross court at NVZ.
  • Players dink cross court on trying to knock the ball off opponents cones while protecting their own by taking dinks out of the air.
