  3. Each time you play, pick one skill and make it your mission to useĀ it often and on purpose.

Attacking Patterns

  • Angle of attack dictates angle of return like a flashlight beam bouncing off a mirror.
  • Straight-on speed up comes straight back.
  • Angled attack returns at the opposite angle.
  • Options for Speed-Ups: Straight-on speed up, Slight angle down the line

Attacking Patterns

  • Players set up straight on skinny at the NVZ
  • Part 1: Cooperative- 1 player feeds dead dink to outside quadrant,
  • Opposing player initiates speed up and both players look to counter.
  • Part 2: Set it Up: begin with dinking rally looking to set up speed up
    opportunity and attacking pattern.
  • Take turns who initiates speed up in both parts
 

Attacking Patterns: Forward Pressure

  • Forward pressure = pace pressure
    Ā - Angle of attack dictates angle of return like a flashlight beam bouncing off a mirror.
  • Straight-on speed up comes straight back.
    - Angled attack returns at the opposite angle.
  • Options for Speed-Ups:
    - Straight-on speed up, Slight angle down the line, Middle speed up, Middle to slight cross-court speed up

Mini Pickleball

  • Players set up at NVZ like doubles play.
  • First 2 shots are cooperative - cross court dink serve and dink return - then GAME ON!
  • Players may use all of the shots and strategies from lesson to build the point.
  • Possession scoring. Play to 11 win by 2 or play in timed rounds.
