Here are your notes and homework from the clinic. Keep practicing to solidify all you learned.

Notes & Homework

Skill: Offensive Dinking

  • Objective is to create Open Court, Off Balance Opponents and Opportunity balls.
  • Hit well placed push dinks to move your opponents around.
  • 2 Options to create offensive opportunities:
    • Chip away at one opponent
    • Mix it up between the 2 opponents.

Drill: Cross Court Dinking Target Cones

  • Set out 3 cones with balls on top. 1 inside sideline and inside NVL, 1 on NVL in middle, and 1 behind NVL and just inside the center line.
  • Players stand cross court at NVZ and dink rally to knock balls off the cones.
  • Defend cones by taking balls out of the air.
  • Players may need to be strategic to move opponent away from a cone in order to aim for it the next shot.

Drill: Send & Receive - Middle vs Outside

  • Players set up at NVZ for double mini pickleball.
  • Engage in mini pickleball competitive play.
  • Players must call as they hit the ball where they think they will receive the next ball: Middle or Outside Quadrant.
  • This brings awareness to what you get off of what you give.

 Skill: Dead Dink Options

  • Dead Dink = bouncing high and not challenging your position or balance - ATTACKABLE.
  • Option #1: Speed up at the person in front of you or at open court
  • Option #2: Offensive cross court dink if there is open court available.
