Offensive Lobs & Overheads

Offensive Lob from NVZ
- This is a weapon - not a hail Mary!
- Contact Point: Out in front, off bounce or out of air.
- Weight Transfer: Use legs to lift both forwards & up to generate height and
depth. - Body Positioning: Balanced & in position.
- Swing: Guide ball as if trying to keep it on your paddle as long as possible.
Dinking With Lobs
- Place target rings deep in court behind each player.
- Players straight on at NVZ and dink rally starts.
- Players wait for the right ball to hit the lob over their opponent and aim for
the target rings. - Opponent does not run down the lob in this drill.
- Players take turns who is hitting the lob.
Overhead Smash
- Grip: Continental
- Stance: Open Stance perpendicular to the net, use SCISSOR STEPS to move
back - Paddle Prep: Paddle above the back of the head in trophy position
- Contact Point: Above the head and out in front of the body- extending up to
reach the ball - Follow Through:Â Swing down and across to the non-dominant side of the
body
Gasser
- Hitting player at NVZ. Feeding player at T of NVZ.
- Feeder tosses a lob for an overhead and then a mid height ball for a swing volley.
- Hitter practices loading forward and through the swing volley on their way
up to the NVZ after the overhead. Go until baskets are empty and switch
roles
