Notes & Homework
Skill:Â Third Shot Drive
- Contact Point: Out in front approx 12-15” in front of front foot.
- Weight Transfer: Load and rotate. Extending forward through the ball with weight transfer.
- Body Positioning: Don't let shoulders go up and down. This affects the weight transfer and ball flight.
- Hands: Reach forward with non paddle hand on forehand drive. Use a laid back wrist and eastern grip to create topspin.
- Swing: Short Backswing-paddle butt to back hip. Swing plane to the side to initiate kinetic chain.
Skill: Counter Attacking the Drive
- Slow down the last 3 ft of transition like soft close drawer on a cabinet.
 - Give yourself space to load forward and swing to counter the drive with a swinging volley.
Drill: Â Counter Attacking the Drive
- Players stand straight on both at the baseline.
- 1 player serves, receiving player intentionally hits a weak return for server to drive.
- Receiving player begins to move up looking to counter attack the server's drive with a swinging volley.
- Only play out the first 4 shots of the rally.
- Go for timed round and switch jobs or alternate who serves each rally.
